UniCredit Start Lab was very pleased to participate in the National Innovation Award final, an initiative promoted by PNICube, the Italian Association of University Incubators and the Business Plan Competition. During the competition held in Naples this morning, UniCredit Start Lab selected the most promising startup among all of the innovative ideas presented during the event.

It awarded the UniCredit Start Lab Prize to Addax Biosciences, a startup that produces ADDAX (Acid Deprived DiAldehyde FiXative), an innovative product that can be used to preserve the molecular structure of biological tissues. Unlike formalin, the solution currently used to preserve for biological specimens, ADDAX not toxic or carcinogenic. There are currently no other safe products on the market aimed at replacing formalin.

ADDAX is covered by an international patent, and is part of the UniCredit Start Lab acceleration program, which provides:

• Assistance selecting one or more mentors from a grouping of professionals, consultants, entrepreneurs and UniCredit partners; the mentor(s) will participate in periodic meetings on strategy and business growth with the startup

• A dedicated UniCredit manager

• Access to the UniCredit Startup Academy and the coaching program organized by the UniCredit Start Lab team

• Opportunities to arrange formal meetings with UniCredit corporate customers and potential investors, in the event that the conditions required are met.
