The two commissions, after having evaluated and voted on the projects, have decreed the final ranking, which sees:

First place: ALKELUX

ALKELUX develops antimicrobial additives through a patented process that utilizes waste from licorice plant processing, promoting a circular economy model. Incorporating this additive into food packaging production imparts antimicrobial properties to the packaging itself, thereby extending the shelf life of perishable foods.

-------------------------------------------

Second place: ID.EIGHT

ID.EIGHT is a brand of sustainable, genderless and cruelty-free sneakers, made with innovative materials obtained from alternative raw materials such as apple peels, grape stalks, corn, mycelium and cactus. Designed to reduce environmental impact at every stage of the life cycle, they are ethically produced in Portugal, in a certified factory that uses self-produced renewable energy, with over 70% recycled materials. At the end of their use, the shoes can be collected and recycled as part of a circular economy project.

-------------------------------------------

Third place: HYPESOUND

HYPESOUND is based on the concept that sound can amplify and accelerate biological processes. The startup is developing So'Sweep, a patented technology that combines hardware with AI-powered software to use low-frequency sound waves for significantly boosting productivity in fermentation processes

-------------------------------------------

The Board Experts then awarded two special mentions:

one recognized to DEW, a reality created to help fashion companies discover innovative and sustainable materials for their production, in response to growing consumer awareness of environmental issues. With this mission, the startup developed Dew: the world's first living microfiber capable of photosynthesis, made with embedded microalgae and fully biodegradable.

-------------------------------------------

The other one at GLUTENSENS: specializes in food safety for individuals with celiac disease. The company is developing a device that uses advanced electrochemical technology to detect gluten traces in real time in foods served in restaurants, cafeterias, and catering services, helping to prevent cross-contamination and ensure safe meals.

-------------------------------------------

The other startups that will enter the UniCredit Start Lab business platform are (in alphabetical order):

BIORSAF has developed the advanced technology platform BS-SAFE, which integrates cloud computing, IoT, and generative AI to centrally and automatically manage safety protocols. The solution enhances operational efficiency, ensures process traceability, and guarantees full regulatory compliance. The modular components include: BS-FOOD for food safety, BS-WORK for workplace safety, BS-WATER for water management, and BS-CUSTOM for tailor-made process configurations. Through web tools and mobile apps—with multi-user access and customizable profiles and responsibilities—the platform delivers a smart, user-friendly experience adaptable to any business environment.

-------------------------------------------

BRUPI, thanks to an industrial innovation patent, deals with developing functional food products (such as bakery, pasta) and medicinal products (such as herbal teas and supplements) with low FODMAP content (carbohydrates fermented in an abnormal way in the intestine of people who have dysbiosis, or an imbalance of the bacterial flora) of the highest quality and particularly suitable for those who suffer from gastrointestinal disorders, such as irritable bowel syndrome. --------------------------------------------------------------------

MOVOPACK: has developed a reusable, circular, and sustainable packaging system tailored for retail, e-commerce, and logistics. The goal is to eliminate single-use packaging by offering a solution aligned with circular economy principles. Each Movopack can be reused up to 20 times, significantly reducing CO₂ emissions, energy use, and water consumption compared to single-use cardboard, which contains 70% recycled material.

------------------------------------------

NARVIQ: is developing a financial platform designed to manage and sell surplus inventory in the fashion industry. It enables small and medium-sized brands to access the off-price market without compromising their brand value. The platform leverages artificial intelligence to create a transparent and efficient B2B marketplace.

-------------------------------------------

NEURALITY: specializes in automating visual inspections for quality control in the fashion, agri-food, textile, and manufacturing industries. Artificial intelligence is central to its image and video analysis, enabling the extraction of complex information with high precision in under two minutes, without prolonged machine downtime.

-------------------------------------------

The PAAC provides brands and retailers with the technology and expertise to implement white-label circular fashion services such as outlets, rental, take back and resale, and leasing. Operating as a full-service provider, the startup handles the launch and management of all activities with a modular approach. This allows the implementation of sustainable initiatives and enables businesses to seize enormous market opportunities.
