The Commission on Clean Tech & Industrial

The Commission on Clean Tech & Industrial will meet on June 6, 2023, to select the winning proposal from among twelve finalists.

The startups selected to participate in UniCredit Start Lab 2023 will be offered several opportunities, including:

  • participation in meetings with UniCredit Corporate clients in order to evaluate potential commercial/industrial/technological partnerships, both in ad hoc sectoral initiatives and in one-to-one meetings;
  • opportunity to get in touch with possible investors, including international ones, in dedicated initiatives;
  • access to the Startup Academy and other initiatives as part of the coaching and managerial training program organized by the UniCredit Start Lab team;
  • guidance from professional Mentors, consultants and entrepreneurs, who will help them develop their businesses by offering skills and providing access to networks;
  • possibility of being selected for a Corporate Partnership program with large companies, which provide support with their own mentors and facilities (laboratories and corporate spaces), promote actions ranging from the launch of a joint pilot project to the investment evaluation;
  • possibility of collaborations with UniCredit;
  • the assignment of a dedicated UniCredit relationship manager.

The winner will also receive a cash prize of €10,000.

The fourteen finalists are as follows:

CLEAN TECH AREA

CIRCULAR MATERIALS

Circular Materials develops innovative technologies and processes to extract and recover valuable metals from industrial effluents and wastewater. Their mission is to prevent the loss and dispersion of critical raw materials by transforming linear value chains into circular ones, offering scalable, cost-effective solutions for resource valorization and upcycling.

FORMULA DT (Repet)

The Formula DT research and development center operates in the field of green chemistry, from theoretical-computational design to the synthesis of innovative materials. To date it is carrying out the pre-industrial scale up of the own technology (patent pending), REPET, which carries out a green depolymerization of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) based plastic.

MIEEG

MIEEG is a patented miniaturized electric generator fueled by hydrogen or methane, more efficient than batteries and fuel cells in terms of weight, volume, and power production. It can find applications in all vehicles (cars, drones, aircrafts, ships) that use batteries as power supply or in industrial plants, farms and buildings requiring high energy demand even in remote area.

NGV POWERTRAIN

NGV Powertrain is a Green Tech startup and manufacturer of green and connected engines powered by alternative fuels (natural gas, bio-fuels, hydrogen and other e-fuels). Our mission is to decarbonize the 'hard-to-abate' sectors: trucks, buses, specialty vehicles agricultural and construction machines, boats, gensets, etc.

SINERGY FLOW

Sinergy Flow has developed a sustainable, low-cost, and highly efficient battery system for the energy storage on a multi-day basis, allowing the penetration of renewables in the energy ecosystem up to 90 %. The technological solution is a redox flow battery based on abundant and low-cost materials, fully compliant with the Circular Economy principles.

TALET-E

Talet-e is going to accelerate the transition towards sustainable and smart urban mobility by focusing on the conversion of scooters to electric motors. The Talet-e electric conversion platform represents a new universal standard with a state-of-the-art electric technology. It is designed to be installed on all types of internal combustion scooters, to transform them into electric vehicles, and is compatible with all endothermic scooter models from 50cc to 400cc, regardless of brand, including older versions. The conversion to electric becomes practical and cheaper, within everyone's reach.

WATERJADE

Waterjade is a software for monitoring the water cycle in the environment. Once calibrated to the company's abstraction system, it provides water forecasts and optimizes the management of the water supply system to support the business continuity.

INDUSTRIAL AREA

40FACTORY

40Factory is developing scalable Industrial IoT solutions by means of which raw data become smart data, or valuable information to support servitization and continuous improvement processes. Through 40Factory, machine builders can build their own digital Industrial IoT platform, to know how machines are really used once installed, in order to propose new value-added services and generate new revenue streams. End customers, on the other hand, can have a digital tool to support the optimization of their operational efficiency.

COMPOSITE RESEARCH (Mad-Flex)

Composite Research aims at renewing industrial production processes through research and development of innovative composite materials. With focus on well-being of people and employees as well as on environmental sustainability, the startup works on the cretaion of a real 4.0 Composites Industry. Mad-Flex, the main solution developed, is a flexible resistant, air proof and leak proof tape that repairs industrial pipes.

KATAKEM

Katakem created OnePot: the first fully-automated chemical reactor to speed up development and scale-up by ten times.  Chemists delegate to OnePot all manual tasks, resulting in 100% reproducible outcomes. The recipes are digitized and encrypted, ensuring that the same results are achieved every time the author shares them with other chemists who use OnePot.

NEWTWEN

Newtwen aims at accelerating the large-scale deployment of digital twin technology in the industrial energy transition and offers a software solution that enables its customers - from automotive, industrial automation and energy sectors - to solve the challenge of thermal management by monitoring the physical system in real time. Its technology provides real-time augmented information on otherwise unmeasurable system characteristics, creating an embedded digital twin to accurately model the physics. In addition, using certain artificial intelligence mechanisms, the digital twin is made adaptive, thus allowing it to evolve over time and become an individual replica of the physical component with which it exchanges information.

NOVAC

Novac is a B2B startup that is developing a solid-state supercap for electric vehicles and aerospace. The supercap is an energy storage device complementary to the battery, usually it cointains a liquid that leads to huge problems related to safety and encumbrance. Novac has patented a process to make it solid-state and shapeable, increasing safety and performance.

PRES-X

PRES-X is specialized in advanced manufacturing, including new manufacturing technologies and post processes like HPHT, dry superfinishing, computer tomography. Thanks to its own technologies, innovative and sustainable, and to the internal development, PRES-X team can provide solutions that allow to reduce the lead time and costs of process and also the environmental impact.

SPHERECUBE

SphereCube has developed a high-performance 3D printer system for composite materials, enabling the automated production of components for sectors such as aerospace, motorsport, etc., without the need for molds. This ensures reduced production time and costs. SphereCube's patented technology utilizes thermoset resins, which provide superior performance as matrices. The target markets include aerospace, biomedicine, motorsport, and sports, where the use of 3D printed composites allows for weight reduction while maintaining high mechanical properties

Stay tuned to find out who wins!
