The Commission on Digital

 

 

More than 898 UniCredit Start Lab project applications have been evaluated, and the Commission on  Digital will meet on July 12, 2016 to select a winning startup proposal from 10 remaining finalists.

 

Members of the commission are prominent business leaders such as:

 

  • Marco Adamo, Business Development & Research Manager Marketing, DHL Express Italy;

  • Giorgio Aravecchia, New Media Director, Panini;

  • Fabrizio D'Eredità, Media, Entertainment, Local, BIM & Government Director, Google;

  • Enrico Mercadante, Lead for Systems Engineering and Cloud South Europe, Cisco;

  • Roberto Roggero, Head of Digital Entity, NTT Data Italia                                                       

 

The ten finalists are:

 

 

COLTO - a company that creates imaginative and educational mobile play experiences for children around the world, using its own original and branded properties.

 

GANIZA -  a mobile app that makes it easier for groups of friends to plan their social lives by enabling them to find and share fun activities and places to dine.

 

INVENTIA - a software platform that can be easily integrated with any IT system to facilitate sales of products and services via the web, mobile, smart devices, a video kiosk and smart glasses.

 

METREECA GRAPH FABRIC - a suite of applications that makes it easier to integrate groups of data so that it can be quickly assessed, speeding up the transmission of data in decision-making and operational tools.

 

PLUG & WEAR - a company developing "smart fabrics" that use sensors to measure temperature, pressure and presence of liquid and moisture and transmit that information to the internet of things as well as healthcare and sports applications.

 

SHAREWOOD - a peer-to-peer online platform that matches owners of outdoor sporting goods with people who want to use them, facilitating the rental of everything from bicycles to surfboards to snowshoes to tents.

 

SMARTMICROOPTICS - an affordable set of lenses for smartphones and tablets that turn personal devices into portable digital microscopes.

 

TACTILE ROBOTS - a company that makes mobile robots with an artificial skin sensitive to pressure, enabling them to avoid collisions and safely maneuver among objects and people.

 

WARDROBA - a digital showroom that enables independent brands and international retailers to reach more customers through an e-commerce platform that manages their communication, marketing and deliveries.

 

ZEGO INSTANT URBAN CARPOOLING - a platform that puts users who want to reach a destination in a city into real-time contact with users who are willing to give them a ride.

 

 

The startups selected for UniCredit Start Lab 2016 will receive:

 

  • customized advice from a UniCredit manager on their specific banking needs;

  • guidance from professional mentors, consultants and entrepreneurs, who will help develop their businesses by offering their skills and providing access to their networks;

  • management training for domestic as well as international operations through UniCredit's Startup Academy; and

  • introductions to potential investors;

 

 

The winner will receive a cash grant of €10,000
