The Commission on Impact Innovation


The Commission on Impact Innovation will meet on July 22, 2021, to select the winning proposal from among 9 finalists.

The startups selected to participate in UniCredit Start Lab 2021 will be offered several opportunities, including: 

  • participation in meetings with UniCredit Corporate clients in order to evaluate potential commercial/industrial/technological partnerships, both in ad hoc sectoral initiatives and in one-to-one meetings;
  • opportunity to get in touch with possible investors, including international ones, in dedicated initiatives;
  • access to the Startup Academy and other initiatives as part of the coaching and managerial training program organized by the UniCredit Start Lab team;
  • guidance from professional Mentors, consultants and entrepreneurs, who will help them develop their businesses by offering skills and providing access to networks;
  • the assignment of a dedicated UniCredit manager.

The winner will also receive a cash prize of €10,000.


The nine finalists are as follows:




Axieme is a full-digital insurance broker that distributes policies with a "Social Insurance" model: it simplifies access to insurance for customers and it's the only player in Italy that, upon expiration of the policy, returns a giveback to policyholders: a slice of the premium paid in case no claims occur.



Ecomate has developed an ESG rating system based on algorithms that guide the company through the implementation of sustainability with straightforward language, instant feedback and a competitive cost. A system compliant with the main international standards, tailored for small and medium-sized enterprises and validated by a decentralized scientific committee.



Fortunale produces sweaters of 100% pure natural wool, obtained by cruelty-free farm, dyed with natural pigments. Sweaters are made in Italy by specialized laboratories and can be recycled up to 80% of their fibers. The packaging is plastic free. For every sweater, Fortunale plants one tree in a land confiscated to mafia organization, whose identification number is embroidered on the garment making it unique.



Gaia solves the dilemma of what to wear to feel your best. Through the use of Artificial Intelligence technologies, Gaia interprets tastes and emotions to recommend the most suitable outfit, with products purchasable from brands (through the platform or their e-commerce sites) or owned by the user. Gaia also allows the user to have the outfit validated by receiving feedback from the fashion addicted community on the platform.



IntendiMe is an under-subscription service that allows you to detect sounds and vibrations in real-time and receive the notification directly on your wrist via KitMe, a system consisting of sensors and a dedicated smartwatch. IntendiMe allows deaf people and people with hearing loss to feel more independent, free and safe, whether at home, in the office or on vacation.



Manduco mobile application provides a solution for the management of surplus food in the retail distribution. Stores and restaurants that have unsold food can use Manduco as an online sale channel to sell their products with a preset discount and the consumer can buy a high quality surplus food, saving money and supporting the local community against food waste.



Mixcycling® is an innovative R&D start-up that researches and develops innovative materials by exploiting the properties of vegetable fibres derived from production waste, preferably local, which are merged with polymers from renewable organic resources, recycled or virgin, through a patented process. The aim is to reduce the polymeric component and offer a sustainable and concrete alternative.


Ubique Fashion     

Ubique Fashion is a digital fashion concierge that makes the personal shopping experience available to its users free of charge. Customers can engage in 1to1 conversation with international fashion experts (the Qurators), anytime anywhere. True luxury requires human touch, and Ubique brings in-store expertise with the convenience of online shopping.



Unobravo is an online platform allowing users to virtually connect with selected professionals in psychology and psychotherapy. It was created in order to offer psychological support at any time and anywhere in the world, at affordable prices and finding the most suitable psychologist. The service, offered in Italian, targets Italians in every part of the world, with particular attention to Italian expatriates (more than 6 million) who have difficulty in finding Italian speaking psychologists.
