The Commission on Life Science

 

 

The Commission on Life Science will meet on June 6, 2019, to select the winning proposal from among ten finalists.

 

The startups selected to participate in UniCredit Start Lab 2019 will receive:

 

  • customized banking advice from a UniCredit manager

  • guidance from professional mentors, consultants and entrepreneurs, who will help them develop their businesses by offering skills and providing access to networks

  • management training for both domestic and international operations through UniCredit's Startup Academy

  • introductions to potential investors, in case some requirements are reached

 

The winner will also receive a cash prize of €10,000.

 

The ten finalists are as follows:

 

 

AILEENS PHARMA - Development of a topical, non-pharmacological, and non-steroidal treatment for dermatological diseases. Thanks to the use of a biotech patented ingredient, the first product developed will treat mild to moderate child and adult atopic dermatitis. The product has a high profile of safety and efficacy, without the side effects of the actual pharmacological therapies. 

 

BIONIT LABS - Development of innovative medical devices with the aim of improving the quality of life of people with disabilities. Adam's Hand, the first BionIT Labs project, is a myoelectric hand prosthesis which is easier to use, lighter, more compact and less expensive compared to currently available solutions.

 

DEEP TRACE TECHNOLOGIES - TRACE4AD is able to perform an early diagnosis and predict the progression of Alzheimer's disease through the automatic and objective analysis of the subject's  brain. TRACE4AD uses Artificial-Intelligence (AI) and Cognitive-Computing (CC) technologies that measure common medical images possibly integrated with standard neuropsychological measurements.

 

HEAXEL - Heaxel provides technological solutions for the rehabilitation and assistance of people with neurological or aging-related disorders. The first Heaxel product is ICone , the only all-in-one and plug-and-play robot, already certified for use in any environment, supporting rehabilitation professionals in providing intensive treatments for neurological patients, even after hospital discharge.

 

MGSHELL - An autonomous and injectable device capable of releasing pre-loaded doses of drug at predetermined times in the vitreous chamber (space between the posterior surface of the crystalline lens and the retina). The system drastically reduces the burdens associated to the current monthly invasive treatments for chronic and degenerative diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which requires repeated intra-ocular injections for the entire patient's life.

 

NOTOVIR - Screening, characterization and production of innovative antiviral molecules for the development of new pharmacologically selective active ingredients against viral infections. The goal is to generate multiple pipelines of development of various lines of compounds to be used as new treatments and solutions against different viral infections.

 

OACP - OaCP produces laboratory reagents capable of considerably reducing the time and costs of genetic tests on all types of cancer, with innovations also in the field of logistics and compatibility with current laboratory systems

 

OFTEN MEDICAL - Creation and marketing of an optical fiber device that makes epidural anesthesia safer and more effective, designed and developed to be immediately usable by anesthesiologists and compatible with the currently used standard epidural procedure.

 

PHARMERCURE - Home delivery service of medicines, even with prescription, and any other product that can be purchased in a pharmacy. The order can be placed online through web app or telephone, choosing products and pharmacy.

 

SCENT - Design, test and production of a preventive screening tool for colorectal cancer using a device that analyzes faecal fumes with gas sensors in an economic, simple, reliable and non-invasive way.
