The Commission on Life Science will meet on July 20, 2017, to select the winning proposal from among ten finalists
The startups selected to participate in UniCredit Start Lab 2017 will receive:
customized banking advice from a UniCredit manager
guidance from professional mentors, consultants and entrepreneurs, who will help them develop their businesses by offering skills and providing access to networks
management training for both domestic and international operations through UniCredit's Startup Academy
introductions to potential investors
The winner will also receive a cash prize of €10,000
The ten finalists are as follows:
BACTORY - a solution that uses biosynthesized metallic nanoparticles (BioNPs) to inhibit the formation of bacterial biofilms and to eradicate previously formed biofilms
CELECTOR - is a new medical device for a non-invasive molecular diagnosis of lungs cancer
COMFTECH - a company that creates and sells wearable monitoring systems made from cloth. Their smart garments enable accurate measurement of a range of physiological parameters and offer reliable, continuous and non-invasive monitoring
EASYNURSE - Easynurse is the only mobile application that through a geolocation system helps both the patient to get in touch where he wants and in real-time with a qualified nurse available immediately, and the nurse to practice his profession where and when he wants without any intermediaries
FREEDOM WAVES - an innovative way to use ultrasound for pharmacological treatment. The device deploys ultrasonic technology, modulated at low intensity and emitted in a non-focused manner. This avoids any temperature increase in the treated area while maintaining cellular vitality. The first pathologies to be treated include pancreatic adenocarcinoma and non-responsive breast cancer
HYRIS - an innovative DNA analysis tool that replaces the traditional sensors used in real-time PCR equipment. The immersive, app- and cloud-based software offers a user experience that resembles the laboratory process in any context, while reducing the time of analysis by up to 100 times without the need for specially trained staff
INNOVAMOL - proposes "WellKer", a set of transdermal products Made in Italy resulting from the Italian scientific research and exploiting an innovative natural and multifunctional biomaterial. Main applications include: wound healing, collagen restoration, anti-inflammatory products and transdermal products of bioactive ingredients
NOVAICOS - a company that has developed a patented active ingredient. This unique compound is capable of inhibiting bone erosion, even in cases of osteoporosis and bone metastasis, offering a number of potentially useful properties such as modulability, reversibility and tolerability
VISION ENGINEERING ITALY - an innovative SME that offers Chromo4Vis, the first theranostic medical device for the personalized treatment of corneal and anterior segment ocular disorders. The theranostic UV-A device assists the surgeon on how to best tailor the corneal cross-linking treatment in order to be effective in 100% of keratoconus patients, avoiding the need for corneal transplants
VISION LAB APPS - a startup that has developed VisionHealthCare, a software program that uses Google Glass and Smart Glass to let surgeons create initial medical reports, link them to images and videos, and, if necessary, start a collaborative surgical session that will enable them to interact with medical equipes remotely
