ESO RECYCLING has developed a particular model of circular economy aimed at giving new life to end-of-life sports accessories and clothing. In fact, it proposes to send for recycling an important waste chain, currently classified as solid urban waste, consisting of running shoes and trainers, tennis balls, bicycle tyres and inner tubes, and end-of-life workwear. With the esosport® service and brand, the company operates as the only operator in Europe dedicated to collection and recycling: through 300 collection points located throughout the country at retail shops, fashion brands, leading e-commerce companies, municipal administrations and sports federations. ESO RECYCLING has thus designed the 'Amato Cannara Plant' pilot system, which occupies an area of 700 square metres indoors and 2,400 square metres outdoors and consists of two lines: -a first line dedicated to recycling;-a second line dedicated to the production and transformation of the material, obtained from the first line, into new products for the market. Through the shredding and separation phases of the mixed granules in the original components, the second raw material is obtained and, after the moulding phase, the finished products. The separation of the materials takes place by means of advanced aeraulic and magnetic technologies, which are in the process of being patented, enabling the individual components to be isolated and sent for recycling in a differentiated manner. So far, 22 playgrounds with recycled shoes donated to public administrations and a travelling athletics track have been realised. The start-up is expanding its activities with major high-fashion companies that bring in industrial production waste, warehouse stocks, production defects and sample collections.
