Rosso is an innovative platform that facilitates the meeting of blood supply and demand, efficiently managing requests and availability. It acts as a facilitator between the main players in the blood supply chain, digitizing the booking process, increasing the number of new donors, and optimizing stock management.
Rosso has created a unified network of blood collection centers and a national registry of donors, offering a comprehensive solution to improve the efficiency and accessibility of the transfusion system. Its main goal is to encourage blood donations and raise awareness among young people, helping them overcome fears and myths often associated with donating blood. The numbers confirm the urgency: in Italy, only 2.7% of the population donates blood, despite 2.8 million transfusions being performed in 2022 for 639,000 patients, saving approximately 1,800 lives every day.
In this context, Rosso provides both digital and offline support for all stakeholders in the blood supply chain, including hospital and association-based blood collection centers. The startup also collaborates with schools, universities, and companies to develop education and corporate welfare programs aimed at medium and large-sized companies that want to integrate corporate social responsibility (CSR) into their processes. Rosso designs tailored programs for companies, simplifying access to blood donation, offering free health check-ups, promoting prevention, and contributing to corporate sustainability goals.
The Corporate Life Savers program, in particular, is dedicated to companies that want to actively promote blood donation. Among the services offered are the organization of donation events, awareness campaigns, and monitoring and reporting activities on the impact generated (such as the number of donations and blood bags collected).
To date, Rosso has partnered with major organizations such as Hines, Generali Italia, Procter & Gamble, Bocconi, and Lottomatica.
The Rosso team consists of eight members, divided between the product and software development team and the partnership and educational program development team. The founders, Chiara Schettino and Filippo Toni, born in 2001 and 2006 respectively, are social entrepreneurs with backgrounds in startups and technology, and a personal connection to the world of blood donations and transfusions.
